AT&T Responds To T-Mobile’s New Rate Plans With “Who Cares"
T-Mobile’s CEO hit hard against the current state of wireless subsidized sales stating “this is the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard in my entire life.” AT&T shrugged off the attacks on their network and business plan with a simple “whatever.”
Sprint offered up a slightly more embellished statement on today’s T-Mobile news:
“Sprint gives its customers the best of both worlds with Truly Unlimited 4G LTE data on smartphones and the best value for customers with a savings of $110 over T-Mobile when comparing the total cost of ownership over two years for the 16 GB version of the Samsung Galaxy SIII,” Sprint said. “In addition, true no term contract options are available with Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile and Sprint As You Go.”
According to AllThingsD, Verizon wasn’t immediately available for comment
New iPhone 5S Prototype Leaked In Pictures
GSMArena has revealed a bunch of iPhone 5S "prototype" images sourced from a tipster, and speculates as to whether they could bear any kind of resemblance to the Cupertino company’s forthcoming seventh-gen smartphone. Revealing a curved display and form factor akin to the product outlined in a patent Apple was granted just days ago, it may well just be that an individual with Photoshop skills has decided to take advantage of the circumstances, but with many sources suggesting Apple’s next iPhone could hit the market in a matter of a couple of months, it’s certainly worth checking out.
It always seems suspicious when a leaker of what could be a significant device can somehow be among the first to get their hands on it, yet cannot seem to locate a decent camera to take a snap of it. Unfortunately here, the images of the alleged prototype suffer from the same dose of the VGA syndrome, and it’s very hard to make anything out under the overlay of what looks like intentional mist.
Despite the issues with the image itself, the device illustrated suggests a radical redesign from the current iPhone 5′s form factor. As aforementioned, the curved display slopes toward the edges, while the omni-present home button is also notably missing. The back of the device looks to share the same color scheme as the darker of the two current flagship iPhones, with that Black & Slate combination working to a pleasing aesthetic effect.

If this so-called prototype does indeed reflect a future iPhone, it’s unlikely to be the next one; but if it is, I think we can safely bet it won’t be denoted the "S" moniker. Both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S have remained almost identical to their respective predecessors, and unless the fruit company is planning a break from tradition, I think this would have to down as "big" release warranting a full number increase.
The idea of a curved display within a product such as the much-hyped iWatch, would seem a great deal more plausible. Back in February, reports suggested as much, and although the possibility of the recent patent filing manifesting itself in a product at some point, it probably won’t be just yet.

LG Optimus G2 Spotted With Snapdragon 800 Processor, Headed To T-Mobile
Benchmark filings for handsets are something we’ve long since gotten used to seeing for phones that are expected and/or phones that are rumored. Which is why we’re somewhat surprised, albeit delighted to see a benchmark filing for a device we didn’t expect. The LG D801 is a mystery device and about all we can tell from the filing is that it has a Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor and a resolution of 1794 x 1080. The benchmark result show the device as outperforming the HTC One and the iPad 4, two devices that now sit atop the benchmark charts.
Further details about the D801 are coming up sparse but what really caught our attention was the build name: “g2_tmo_us.” That’s the kind of build name we see on devices that are heading stateside to T-Mobile’s store shelves. Given that this is a LG device, could we be looking at the Optimus G2 on Tmo?
It’s a guess based on less than perfect information so take it as such, not to mention it’s the first time I’ve seen the G2 come up for Magenta shelves. That said, I would welcome the Optimus G2 from our T-Mobile and LG overlords if that’s in fact what this device is sitting side-by-side with the HTC One andGalaxy S 4 on store shelves.

T-Mobile to Start Selling Apple iPhone 5, 5S, 6 from 2013
T-Mobile USA will distribute Apple Inc.'s AAPL -2.63% iPhone next year, a deal that will fill a major gap in the fourth-largest U.S. wireless carrier's product lineup even as the carrier makes a radical move to eliminate popular subsidies of the expensive device.
T-Mobile is the only major U.S. wireless carrier that doesn't offer the iPhone, and its executives have cited that omission as a key reason T-Mobile continues to lose valuable contract customers to competitors. But unlike its rivals, starting next year T-Mobile USA said it won't subsidize the price of the iPhone and other phones it sells.
Instead, T-Mobile will require customers to pay full price for the device, provide their own device, or buy the phone on an installment plan with a down payment plus 20 months of interest-free payments. Still, customers will see some savings because the new service plans are cheaper than the older service plans, which subsidized the devices.

T-Mobile executives have blamed the lack of the iPhone as a key reason that the carrier continues to lose valuable contract customers.
A low-entry unsubsidized iPhone costs about $650, while other models with more memory cost more. T-Mobile said 80% of its new customers are currently signing up for these lower-priced "Value Plans."
The move by T-Mobile to wrap the iPhone into its new pricing model comes as other wireless carriers around the world begin to shift away from the long-held practice of subsidizing devices. Major wireless carriers in the U.S. and overseas tend to subsidize the cost of each iPhone by hundreds of dollars, in return for locking in customers for two-year contracts as carriers try to make up for the upfront expense with higher monthly service fees over the course of a contract.
T-Mobile and parent Deutsche Telekom AG DTE.XE -1.92% said the agreement with Apple will close a key competitive gap.
"We have now added the final piece to the jigsaw to boost the competitiveness of T-Mobile USA sustainably," Deutsche Telekom Chairman and CEO René Obermannsaid.
New T-Mobile USA CEO John Legere said that a certain number of customers won't come to T-Mobile stores if the company didn't have the iPhone. Mr. Legere added that it would launch an Apple product in "several months."
The terms of the deal with Apple weren't announced, but Deutsche Telekom said the cost of the deal was one factor that would depress its cash flow in 2013. To get the iPhone, Sprint Nextel Corp. S +0.09% had to commit to purchasing $15.5 billion worth of the Apple product over a four-year period.
"We worked very, very hard for a deal that made sense," said Mr. Legere, who added the deal would boost cash flow and earnings in2014. "This is not a volume commitment the size of what Sprint agreed to or anything close to it."
Even though T-Mobile didn't have an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone, it has been trying recently to lure iPhone users whose contracts have lapsed with AT&T Inc.T -0.19% Mr. Legere said it has more than 1.7 million iPhones running on its network today.
The iPhone made for AT&T can also work on T-Mobile because it runs on similar network technology. But since AT&T's network uses different wireless frequencies, the iPhone on T-Mobile tends to download data at a much slower rate.
T-Mobile is now reworking its network so the migrated phones will be able to run on its higher speed network. Mr. Legere said the company would continue to "aggressively target AT&T."
The German telecom giant also said T-Mobile will spend more in the U.S. to build out its next-generation wireless network. The company plans to spend around $4.7 billion in 2013 and $3 billion in 2014 and 2015, up from an average yearly expenditure of $2.7 billion from 2010 to 2012.

Verizon iPhone 5 is unlocked, can be used freely on GSM networks - CONFIRMED
New owners of the Verizon iPhone 5 are being met with an unexpected but welcome surprise today: the device comes fully unlocked out of the box. That will come as great news for customers that travel overseas and it even allows you to insert an AT&T nano-SIM if the desire strikes you. We've been able to confirm that the Verizon iPhone 5 is fully compatible with AT&T's 3G network — though differing LTE bands will prevent you from achieving high-speed connectivity. You should also be able to hop on T-Mobile's 3G network in areas where the carrier has refarmed its spectrum, though we've yet to test this firsthand. We've reached out to Verizon for comment on the rare unshackling.
Update: Those considering purchasing the Verizon model on the basis that it ships unlocked should do so with caution. Last year, the Sprint variation of the iPhone 4S also shipped unlocked, but after a subsequent update, users were tied to the company's nationwide network.
